Ok, so here's my second try at this. I can't remember which ones I've posted and which I haven't, so here goes....forgive me if there are repeats.

    SILENCE

    Silence is Golden,
    So they say.
    A blessing,
    hard to come by
    In today’s world.

    Funny.
    All I seem to get
Is silence. The sounds around me
Might as well be as nought
For all the sense they make.

    The shouting and talking,
    Whispering, mumbling, murmuring,
Screaming and laughing and chuckling and chortling,
The sounds of friends and family and loved ones,
All are absent, in my world.

The laughter is muted, the talking is
    Suspended until further notice,
The chuckling and chortling and whispering and
    Mumbling, all stopped and halted,
    Their absence deafening,

The silence more ear-splitting then any noise
    Could be.
Completely alone in this vast void,
    This dark space,
    This hellhole.

    Limbo and purgatory,
    Hell and Hel and Hades
Would be welcome respites from this.
    No one around me, despite
    Their proximity.

    I call out,
No one hears. Why am I not surprised?
    They can’t hear me,
    the real me,
    The Prisoner.

    Silence is Golden,
    So they say.
    A blessing,
    Hard to come by,
    Not in my world.

Lol. Thank you; It has a dual meaning, if you look. The literal meaning is a deaf person, but the more metaphorical meaning is a scoial outcast, someone who never really gets involved, no matter how hard they try Smile

Really? They are there, I'd imagine.
Anyway, here's another one for your enjoyment.

    ODE TO A STONE

    Ah, a stone.
    The most simple of things,
It is a stone and only a stone, made
Of rock and nothing else. No
    Motives, ambitions,
    No needs

    To fulfil. It simply is.
    Cold, uncaring, as it stands
The test of time. As its big brothers
    Stand against raging torrents, undaunted
Unfeeling as it watches the world slowly
    Pass it by.

If it had eyes, would it see
The pain and the hurt in the world,
    And simply not care?
Would it care if used with sticks,
    Would it care if thrown?
Would it feel anything at all?

    Probably not, no. This stone
    Has no emotions,
    No soul,
    No friends,
    How lonely it would be,
If it could feel such a thing.

    Alone against the elements, thrown
Where they will it, dumped where
They want. Nothing to comfort it,
    Nothing to care at all.
How lonely an existence like that would be,
    Were it alive.

This stone watches the world as it passes by,
Not caring or feeling or thinking,
    Not really. It simply is,
Or that’s what it tells itself.
    Better that then the other,
    Better that then the truth.

Truth, you may say, what Truth?
What Truth could there be of a stone,
    What deeper meaning,
    You’re rambling man, spit
It out. The Truth? The stone
    That you’re hearing about? Well,

    Hello there.

Alright, can't really figure out this one. At one point it made me think of a younger sibling.. that could be the farthest thing from it's meaning, but it's what I got lol.
