Gender: Male
Hair: Sandy-blonde, kept short in the winter for swimming, but as soon as swimming season ends, he lets it grow long for the 4 months of summer. By the end of summer he ends up looking like a stereotypical California surfer boy.
Eyes: Sometimes blue
, sometimes green, depending on the day. Also, they seem to go grey when he is depressed.
Height: 5'6"
Clothes: Usually torn jeans and a loose-fitting t-shirt.
Jewelry: Has a plain gold ring which reads "Aequitas". His older brother James, has the same ring except it reads "Veritas." (Veritas meaning truth and Aequitas meaning justice).
Piercings: None
Tattoos: Has "James" tattooed onto his forearm.
Hobbies: Swimming and surfing are pretty much the only two things he lives for. Although he excels in school when he puts himself too it, especially physics and math.
Favorite song: "Leaving on a Jet plane" Although if you asked him, he'd probably tell you that he hates it, but he listens to it almost every day. Some day's it's the only thing that will get him to smile.
Personality: Up until Melanie moved away, Sammy was probably one of the happiest guys you could ever meet. He was close to his family, especially his brother James. He simply loved life. Once she left for the UK Sammy was shaken. He kinda lost his kiddish glow, and became very serious. Almost as if he grew up overnight. Not much seemed to make him happy after that. He still swam, but more because it was who he was, not because he enjoyed it. He's always been kinda shy/introverted until you get to know him.
Background history:
Body: Being a swimmer, Sam has had a solid 6-pack since he was in kindergarden. He has always been short, and scrawny, due to his pre-mature birth. He also has a really high metabolism, so he couldn't put on an ounce of fat if he wanted to. Extremely attractive if you are into muscle, but than again, what high school girl isn't?
Likes: Melanie, Swimming, Surfing, Working out, Getting stoned, Sleeping, and (though he won't admit it) School.
Dislikes: People trying to control him, thinking about his past, confrontation.

- Since birth Sam and his Brother were nearly inseparable. James was only 8 and a half months older, due to Samuel being born over a month pre-mature. The Runt of the family, the doctors were saying it was a miracle when Sam survived. Sam seemed to have no long-lasting health issues other than the fact that he was always much smaller than everyone else at his age. Due to their closeness in age, they were always in the same grade throughout school. Which was good, James was much bigger, so he protected Sam from a couple of Bullies.
Excerpt about James- Spoiler:
- When they were both 13, Sam stumbled home from school crying because 3 guys from the grade above him pushed him off his bike and stole it. Then they beat him to a pulp, both his eyes were so swollen it was a wonder he found his way home. His lip was puffed up and bleeding, and he had scrape marks all over his arms from the fall. James had been home sick that day, so Sam had to walk home alone. James was so mad that even Sam couldn't calm him down. Finally, at some time just before midnight, James stormed out of the house alone. James went over the the house of the guy who stole Sam's bike, Dirk, or something like that. After a half hour of knocking the door finally opened. When Dirk came out he still had his two bully friends with him. James calmly asked them if they were the douche-bags who took his brother's bike. They laughed and fessed up to it, but then they turned around to go back into their house. James reached for a shovel which was leaning against the house and brought it across the back of Durk's head with a deafening bang. He instantly dropped like a sack of potatoes. The other two assumed he was dead and started freaking out. Jamie wanted to kill all three of them, but restrained himself, instead he dropped the shovel and rode Sam's bike home. Threatening them not to mention a word.
A little after a year later, when James was 15 and Sammy was still 14 they went to one of James older friends house. James' friend, Karl, was 24 and ran a clean underground Tattoo parlor. They both got each other's names on their dominant forearms (James is left handed).
The only other person that seemed to rival for his time was Melanie. Sam and M&M knew each other since they were 6, and both of their parents expected them to eventually get married. For some reason neither of them were really popular, so they had ample time to spend with each other. They would often walk out of town, just the two of them, and walk through the trees until they found a creek, then just sit and talk until the day drew into night. Then they'd have to sneak back into their houses. When Sam go home, he'd tell James everything. And James would just listen, smiling. As M and Sam both got older, Sam began to fall in love with her.
But he never acted on his feelings because they had such an amazing friendship, and he was happy just being her best friend. She dated a few times, but never for very long, and she would always come crying back to him. He was their to pick up the pieces. 
And frankly, he knew he was closer to her than any of her boyfriends ever were. Yet as they grew older he began to realize just how beautiful she was becoming, and dreaded the thought of losing her to another guy. It was then that he decided he would one day work up the courage to ask her out. That was grade 9, the year before she moved.
When she moved, he was heartbroken. She came onto his front lawn the day she left for the airport. Come to say goodbye. Her family was with her, being friends of his family, mostly everyone was in tears. He must've hugged her for five minutes without letting go. And yet he still couldn't tell her how he felt. When their hug stopped they looked into each others eyes. He glanced down at her lips, she noticed, and forced a half smile through her tears. He blushed a little bit
and hugged her one more time. Then she left. He hasn't seen her since.
Since then his life changed dramatically. He tried to keep in touch with her over facebook, but it hurt to bad, especially seeing as she started dating within a month of her arrival. Obviously he made the best move not telling her how she felt. If she loved him the way he love her, she wouldn't be dating other guys. He had never even looked at another girl since he was 6. At first he attempted to make himself more "dateable", so that if Mel ever did come back she couldn't resist him. There was obviously something wrong with him before that made her not attracted to him. So he worked out a lot. 2-3 hours a day, 6 days a week. He was already pretty good looking before from swimming, but now he was a stud. He used to dream about how Melanie would come back and fall in love with him instantly because of how good-looking he was. She would be upset that she hadn't seen it before. But never-the-less he eventually he gave up, since several of the girls from his high school were practically swooning over him anyways, he decided he make Melanie a little Jealous. He never really liked any of the girls that he dated, but he dated a lot of them. Then, when that bored him, he started cheating on his girlfriends, which gave him a pretty bad rep in his school.
Things only got worse when he started smoking pot. He didn't see what the big deal was, Pot wasn't so evil or anything, the worst thing a high kid ever did was get the munchies. Even Michael Phelps, his childhood hero, smoked Pot for a while. When he did show up for class, most of his teachers paid him no respect; in fact they usually treated him like dirt. His physics teacher however, John Wryth, saw his potential. Mr.Wryth was always pushing Sam to get off the Pot and clean up his life. Apart from James, John was probably the most influential person in Sam's life right now. (Sam had lost a lot of respect for his parents a year ago when they wouldn't let him visit Melanie when she was traveling through New York. The trip was too expensive for them). But neither James or Mr.Wryth could get Sam out of his stupor. The only thing that made Sam smile anymore, apart from being stoned out of his mind, was listening to "Leaving on a jet plane", and it wasn't even that much of a happy smile. He was just smiling at the irony of how his favorite song had become his worst nightmare, and how his life was in shames. Finally when his parents had enough, they decided to send him to England to finish his senior year. It was going to economically ruin them, but they knew it was the only way to get him to fix his life. The night James heard about this he went out and bought two rings. He got them encrypted to say "Veritas and Aequitas" based off the movie boondock saints. Kind of a goodbye present for Sam.
