If that's the case, are there any objections to me posting it once I've come up with a character (probably afternoon tomorrow my time)?

Post when you're ready =) I like making my characters after I've read the thingy. It's late again and "thingy" is all I've got. Pretty please add a simple version for us slow people. <3

Hmm....I don't think there is a "simple" version to this thing we've created, but I'll try and keep it as concise as possible. If you already have a bio, make sure to link it in your reply to said post, and I'll make a list of current characters as and when the links are provided. I'll post up the thread now, and my character will be following later.

So....Mason has recently asked me what the nature of The Underground is. Is it literally underground, is it a "half-step out of phase," or is it a mixture of the two? Are there bits that are hidden in the human world and bits that are underground/in a different dimension? How exactly does the divide work? I need to know this before I start writing up my post, haha.

Yeah, I just wasn't exactly sure. I think it would be interesting if it had almost like a different plane of reality where the Underground still exists within the mortal world, but mortals can't access it/acknowledge it's existence (almost like the book "Neverwhere" (but Neil Gaiman)). That way, we could have access to both the mortal world (for the places like the hospital, etc.), but also the areas like the Goblin Market. There are various entrances/exits to get to the Underground/mortal world. In Neverwhere, its a place called London Below because its a realm in which exists below London, England, and you can get to various places in the mortal city through the London Below (which we can do with the Underground as well).

Having said that though, I'm good with anything, so whatever you guys decide, I'm happy with!

That's the sort of thing I was thinking of, where things like the slums and the Gobling Markets and whatnot are in a hidden dimension, and the hospital and meeting building and where the richer or more easily hidden creatures live in the human world. That sort of thing, but it depends on what everybody else thinks.

I thought it was a combination of how the Underdark worked in Forgotten Realms and how Platform 9 and 3/4 worked in Harry Potter. Some places only accessible by going through a wall/broken door/shattered window, then appearing about a half step out of sync with the world, then other places you just need the right key to get in the right door to get to the right place. It'd depend on the area, and some places have a combination of the two.

That's pretty much what I was thinking; some places are a half-step out of phase, some are out in the human world but locked, and some places are in the human world in plain sight (like the Hospital).

I imagined it like... The Knockturn Alley of Diagon Alley. Sorry to those who haven't read Harry Potter but I can't think of another way to describe it.

Like.. anyone can get to it, but most mortals don't know it's there, or just don't want anything to do with it because it's "dark, dangerous, and dirty". To get to it I just imaged there was a certain path to take. But I kinda like the Platform 9 3/4 way of reaching it.

Hmm...interesting. Well, why not have a mash up? So, the hidden areas - like the Goblin Market and slums and whatnot - are reached via 9 3/4 style magic, and there are some areas - like the wealthy residences - that are outside, so it's kind of half-in and half-out of the human world?

    I think you're fine, Jade.

That said, I have a question. Where are we in the world? Like, I know we're in the U.S., Murdoch already stated that a few pages back I think, but what state? Near what city(ies)? Climate, terrain, surrounding areas, etc.

My top 3 choices, in no particular order, are Miami, Florida, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, or Las Vegas, Nevada.

So, y'know, tropical on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean, factory-land covered in pollution and steel mills, or ultra-urban casinos and hookers in the middle of the desert. In two of these, it's warm days and cold nights, while in the other it's cold in autumn, winter, and part of spring, but warm as hell in summer. Since it's the start of October, if we did it in Pittsburgh, it'd be starting to get a bit chilly. Otherwise, it's pretty damn warm and/or bright.

New York's overdone, though. I mean, yeah, stick to the classics and all, but nah, variety is the spice of life.

I had a mental debate on the northern most city choice between Boston and Pittsburgh, and Pittsburgh won out because I use Boston for everything else that involves supernatural things. I don't know the city that well (read: all I know is from The Pitt, The Last of Us, and about 10 hours of actually being there in person.), but I thought it'd be a good choice. I had a similar debate between Vegas and some Texan city for a desert climate, but, again, all I know of the area is from video games. Miami was the only major tropical city I could think of, although now that I think of it, why don't we add New Orleans, Louisiana, to the list? I like the idea of these species living in a city with a rich Voodoo culture and surrounded by marshes and swamps.

My vote is New York. (Which is what I envisioned when I wrote up my posts) What does it matter if it's over done? I wasn't thinking a hot beachy climate, but a cool and large city
