March to Talabheim Empty March to Talabheim

Post by Banather Fri Feb 11, 2011 4:20 pm

The Old World is a dangerous place to live in. Humanity is always threatened, from all sides. Everywhere one goes, he or she faces horrors unknown, from bandits, to the Undead, and even Daemons. There are even legends of a race of vicious Rat-Men, called Skaven, who live in underground tunnels all throughout the world.

The Empire is the largest nation of Men. It is ruled by the Emperor, who is elected, and rules unto death. The current Emperor is a valiant and noble man, named Karl Franz. The Empire is divided into several provinces, each ruled by an Elector Count, who, in the even of the emperor's death, become candidates for his successor. This is a nation which is ruled by religion. There is a god for every aspect of existence, such as Morr, the god of the Dead, Ulric, the god of Winter, War, and Wolves, or Sigmar, the first Emperor, and patron god of the Empire.

Even within the Emperor's borders, humans are not the only people to exist. Elves live in the forests, and Dwarfs in the mountains, both of which maintain good, or at least tolerant, relations with the Humans. There are others, such as the Vampire Counts of Silvania, or the Beastmen of Drakwald Forest, which threaten the very existence of humanity.

    -------------

We are all part of a caravan, travelling towards the city of Talabheim. You may be a warrior, priest, or simple peasant folk. Human, Elf, or Dwarf. It doesn't matter. What matters is why are you in this caravan, what do you expect to find in the city we make our way to? Are you running from something? Or someone? Will you tell others, or keep your secrets? It's up to you.

The technology level in this setting is akin to the Renaissance era, particularly Germany. So basic firearms exist, but they are expensive and typically reserved for the military. Swords and other weapons are much more common. Magic also exists, for those who are trained to wield it. A human can only learn to control one of the Winds of Magic, such as Fire, Alchemy, Shadow, Death, Life or Light.

Here is a map of the Empire (click it to view the entire thing). Talabheim, our destination, is on the western border of Talabecland, in the center of the Empire.
    Spoiler:

Banather - Konrad Falkenheim, Warrior Priest of Sigmar
    Mercy - Arabel, Gypsy
    Allen - Tarell Diederich, Rogue/Assassin
    Skye - Nadya Purrum, Gypsy
Capri - Felixa Cassius, Tilean Noble?
Murdoch - Varkash, Disguised Chaos Sorcerer

Current time/conditions: Dusk, with a few clouds and a slight breeze. It's early summer.

I was tipped off by "The Old World" but by the time you mentioned Karl Franz....but I am ashamed of you! How dare you mention the threats to humanity and not mention A) The Undead, but most importantly, the most dangerous threat to all life anywhere ever, The Dark Gods, The Ruinous Powers, the Forces of Chaos! Sad

I'm going to be a travelling Warrior Priest of Sigmar, named Konrad. I am sworn to root out Chaos and corruption wherever I go, be it through preaching to the masses, or smiting the unclean.

    Height: 6'4"
    Gender: Male
    Eye Color: Blue
Hair: Bald, but would be blond
    Clothing/Armour: http://pub.goha.ru/games/warhammer/empire/warrior_priest/WHO_classes_WP/WarriorPriest02_03.jpg
Special Markings: He has a tattoo of a twin-tailed comet on my forehead.
Personality: Stubborn, and extremely devout. He exists to protect the Empire, and is willing to go to almost any lengths to do so. He is also somewhat paranoid, a trait drilled into him during his initiation into the Order.
Powers: He can bless a weapon, to make it more effective against Daemons or the Undead, and can occasionally emit a blast of holy fire from his body.
Weapons: An ornate Warhammer, the traditional weapon of his order.

March to Talabheim Empty Re: March to Talabheim

Post by Allen Fri Feb 11, 2011 9:21 pm

    Yes. This is long.

    Name: Tarell Diederich
    Age: 29
    Height: 5’8”
    Eye Color: Dark Brown
Body type: Stocky, not very imposing. But that said, stronger than he looks.
    Skin tone: Slightly tanned white.
    Hair: Short, thick, messy.
Hair Color: Dark brown, almost black.
    Facial Hair: 5 o’clock shadow.
    Race: Human

Clothing: His face is obscured with a black hood and cloak. It is simply made, stitched by hand… Along the edges of the hood itself there are nicks, and patches on the cloak itself indicate that it has been worn quite often. Often, he has a plain black bandana around his neck, ready to be pulled over his face. On his chest he wears a simple black over tunic, with a gray undershirt. Leather armor is worn over the tunic. It has buckles and straps running across it. There is obvious signs of wear on this as well. The leather is cracked, and malleable. It seems as though it was fine once, but has been over worn and not cared for… There is a very thin sheet of a strange charred metal on the chest piece’s stomach and breast area… It seems to have been intentionally blackened to reduce value. His legs are covered, boot to shin by another set of leather and charred metal tassets. The left boot has a dagger sheathed along it‘s outfacing side. His sleeves leather which end in white flourishing cuffs… They seemed to have once been elegant, but they to are frayed. Along the edges are black stitches forming a previous elegant pattern. His hands are covered by leather gloves, the knuckles having studs and the same charred metal plating on his shins and chest. His wrists have thick leather vambraces, the left one having charred metal plating on it, the right having many notches along it. On his hips are several bags and small pouches. Above his sheathed longsword on his left hip is a small leather coin purse and bag, filled with feathers from a dove.

Personality: He’s not entirely there… As of late he’s had visions… Ideas in his mind. For the last year and a half he has battled visions, and voices… All speaking to him. He fights to claim his sanity… Unaware it may have already left him. A traumatizing experience in his past has demotivated him. He has nothing to live for. He’s unaware of his lost sanity, unaware of his increasing suicidal actions. Unaware loyalty for his Creed and identity will cost him his life. As he lost his only strand of humanity due to political power struggles, he will toss his life away to end them. He wants revenge. Though in his pursuit, he has increasingly lost his mind… Not caring who he hurts in the path to his old friends, now enemies. He wants to die defending two of the voices who speak to him now. His wife and daughter.

Skills: Hart-breaking -- Lock-picking. He’s also skilled with a sword and dagger. Tools of his trade. The Crossbow is also typical for someone needing discreet elimination. Finally, he is precise with the pistol, and can load and fire quickly thanks to his quick hands.

Obscure powers?: None. Unless having a few extra voices to help in decision making counts.

Weaponry: A flintlock pistol with a notched hilt and several lead bullets. He has gunpowder packages lining the inside of his belt, protected under a layer of metal, like the rest of his leather suit pieces. Sheathed at his left hip is a steel longsword, the blade shines brightly, unlike the rest of the metal, and above the hilt proceeding up the blade are notches. Sheathed in a beaten black leather skin on his right hip is a long blunt but pointed parrying dagger, which doubles as a piercing mail-breaker. On his boot is a short slightly curved dagger along with a notched sheath. Finally, a strap along his leather chest piece has several perfectly balanced knives meant for throwing.

Tarell’s “Dooming”: “Blood shalt corrupt thy soul and flesh. Blood of thy innocuous babe shalt condemn thee.”

Reason for being on the Caravan: Relatively safe passage to his destination. Where he will continue to bury his demons, one man at a time.

    Gender: Female

    Eye Color: Hazel.
    Height: 5'6"

There are exceptions though, such as with someone who she perceives as weak, vulnerable and also small children. Nadya also has a very, very sick mind. Other (secrets, background, etc.): It isn't a secret, but she was a prostitute before she joined the caravan. She didn't get much business though, seeing as she didn't bathe that often and her appearance was not kept up as well when she was with her father.

Hmmm....I want to join now. The only things I have to ask are:

What era? Is this Pre-storm of Chaos, or post-storm of chaos? Has Archaon rebelled yet? Is this after the fall of Nagash, or during or what?

Also, I want to be Chaos...XD

    Age: 24
    Species/Race: Human. Of Roman(Tilean) descent.
Skin: Fair, but with an olive undertone.
Build/Body type: Slender, but has curves. Long-limbed.
Hair Color: Dark brown, almost black.
Hairstyle: Loose, rippling waves that fall down to her mid-back.

Formal: Prefers to wear this white dress.
Shoes: Her favorite. She wears them all of the time.
Jewelry: Gold head band that wraps around forehead. Gold bands that wrap around forearms.
    Tattoos:'Φελιξα' on wrist.
Piercings: Has three cartilage piercings in left ear, two if the right. Each lobe is pierced twice. All with gold.

    Sexuality: Straight.
Relationship Status: She doesn't like to talk about it. Read 'secrets'.
Personality: Felixa is the silent type. Brooding. But she notices everything, hears everything. She's very sly, quick, and graceful. She does have a good sense of humor, though others find her a tad bit...standoffish. But she's strong-willed hopeless romantic, though she's rarely ever shone anyone that. And very stubborn and secretive. She doesn't trust easily. Due to...certain events.

Other (secrets, background, etc.): Felixa was born into a Tilean family. One day, as her twenty-four-year-old self was walking through the back allies of her hometown, she was abducted. By the band of thieves. Apparently, they needed her for some sort of exchange. Stowing her away to Silvania with them, they told her nothing, threatening her that if she spoke they'd kill her. When they got to their destination, they drug Felixa to the middle of the woods, the sunrise quickly approaching. Where They were waiting. A few Vampires. The thieves were making a trade. A meal for Them in exchange for a large amount of gold. Because of the raging villagers in Silvana, the Vampires were trying to keep a low profile. The minute Felixa saw Them, she understood. The Vampires stared at her with cold, unforgiving eyes and sick, hungry smiles. Immediately, she was scared for her life, looking for a way to get out. But she feared there wasn't. That is, until the Leader of Them walked closer to her, bags off gold in his hand, ready to exchange. She saw the ornate dagger upholstered on the vampire's hip belt. But before the Vampire could react, she'd swiftly taken the knife an swung backwards. In doing this, she slit the throat of one of the thieves. And ran, the bloody dagger in her hand. And that's when all hell broke loose. Smelling that sweet scent of blood, They quickly attacked the bleeding man. She knew from his scream and Their growls. But she didn't dare look back. Felixa is forever thankful that the sun broke across the horizon then, and the Vampires didn't chase her. She didn't know if anyone had gotten out alive, she didn't care. She took the thieves carriage and escaped, away from Silvania, to the nearest city. Not many days later, as she walked through the streets at night, knife holstered on her thigh and under her dress, Felixa saw eyes glimmer from the woods. A Vampire. She realized that the thieves carriage was gone. And that meant that the a thief had survived and reclaimed it. And that the Vampires were furious. Realizing that she had no other choice, she ran. And that's how she came to the caravan. Running from a number of people. Not working together of course, but separately. All because of hatred.

Powers in a Fantasy RP: Magic. She is a weilder of Life magic. also know as White Magic. She can cast health spells, love spells (though she never has), wishing spells, protection spells, etc. She loves using it.
Preferred fantasy weapon: Secretive knife that is secure around her left thigh, under her dress.
    Preferred element: Life.
    Preferred animal: Eagle.
    Preferred number: 7.
    Preferred color: Neutral, earthy colors.
    Preferred alignment: This depends...

@Murdoch, this is post-Storm of Chaos, and Volkmar the Grand Theogonist has returned. Also, I'm not entirely sure how being Chaos would work in this, unless you want to be the primary Antagonist.

@Capri, the Italian/Roman equivalent in this world is called Tilea. Also, Vampires in this setting are the blood-sucking, psychotic undead monster kind. No one can be made into a vampire, except through extremely dangerous necromantic magic.

    ooc:

@banather Not a name I recognize...is that from Warhammer Online? 'cause I don't play that, I play the board game.
Also, I was thinking more a Chaos Sorcerer Lord in service to a small Chaos Warlord, but this main antagonist idea is intriguing...what armies would I command? What powers would be open to me? What would be the set-up for this story? Would I be able to infiltrate the main party in order to interact? What characters would be present? For instance, would Vilitch be hovering around somewhere? What of Valkia, or Sigveld, Wulfrik or even Archaon himself (Archaon didn't die, after all)? What sort of characters would be wandering around? (I honestly don't think that if any of these characters encountered Archaon, they would live to tell the tale...he is waaaay too powerful for any of us to take him out XD).
If I were to be a Sorcerer Lord, I would probably choose Tzeentch, but what exact abilities would I have access to? I do not want to be too overpowered...so in that case, I guess a Chaos Dragon Mount and Dragon Ogre Shaggoth allies are out of the question...
oooh....can I have Galrauch as a mount? XD XD
I keed, I keed...I would rape you all with Galrauch, the Two-headed Great Dragon Sorcerer of Chaos. XD

@Capri: Aye. They aren't brainless; on the contrary, they are very cunning leaders, commanding armies of slaves, zombies etc etc. But they were transformed via horrific circumstances and are incapable of turning others. I also doubt you would want to be a Tomb King XD

I don't play Warhammer Online either, I play an Empire army on the Tabletop game. Volkmar the Grim is the leader of the Cult of Sigmar. I'd like to keep the big-named villains and heros out of the RP, so no Sigvald/Archaon, and so on. Being a Sorcerer or Cultist of Tzeentch could be reason enough to infiltrate the party. Your powers would be more or less up to you, as long as you try to keep things reasonable.

By 'reasonable' I assume you mean no tearing a hole in the fabric of space-time to the raw energy-filled realm of Chaos, or altering the winds to screw up any other wizards spellcasting? 'cause they are spells given by the Codex, XD. And I was thinking of infiltration, so would that mean I would get away with not being the main antagonist? Would I be able to be the advisor to a warchief that has infiltrated the party? yay ^_^

and I figured that; Wulfrik alone would rape everyone, and Galrauch would just make everyone crap themselves. XD

If you're going to be infiltrating, being a Cultist instead of a Sorcerer would make much more sense, because as a Warrior Priest, I'd be able to recognize you as a Sorcerer without any trouble. And no, if you're infiltrating, you don't have to be the main antagonist.

    Yay again ^_^

You being a Warrior-priest would certainly make things harder for my character, but I think I could find a way around your detection powers. After all, do you honestly believe that a priest of Sigmar could detect a Sorcerer of Tzeentch if the sorcerer was powerful enough and really tried? Tzeentch IS the controller of the Winds of Magic and The Great Schemer. I think that, if he chose to, he could give his sorcerer the ability to hide from a mere Priest, wouldn't he? Besides, if not that, there is bound to be some sort of magical artifact that disguises the Sorcerers presence...after all, there are so many of the bloody things, you pretty much stumble over an artifact every time you take a trip outside the town XD

Appearance: No one rightly knows. It is said that he was handsome, once, but details from his past life are few and far between. The human form he appears in most often, when not sneaking around, is thought to be his old form; a tall Northerner, well built but not overly muscley, with jet black hair that falls down about his shoulders. His left eye is a pitch black, but the right side of his face is burnt and twisted into a black scarred mess, the muscles beneath the skin visible as they work, some bone showing through the charred skin. His eye on the right side of his face is a golden gem, only a few millimetres in circumference, said to be an ancient treasure of Chaos. He wears this scar proudly, and it is said that he earned it through the trials necessary to become a Sorcerer of Chaos. When in this form, he usually wears a hood to disguise the scar, and only the glint of gold is visible; whilst he is proud of it, he enjoys the look of surprise and terror when he does reveal it from beneath the hood.
Race: Originally a Northerner, he has since ascended to the ranks of the Chosen of Chaos.

Head: He wears a full-head, fully enclosed helmet with no visible ways for him to see out. It has a pair of long, blue and golden horns sprouting from the side, and the front of the dark blue helmet is decorated with veins of gold that lead into a single golden eye in the centre of the helmet. Varkash can easily see out, however.
Upper Body: When in full Sorcerer Battle-armour, he wears a brilliant blue full-body chest plate with a golden tribal design flowing around the outside. A pair of golden wings spread from the centre of the piece to about halfway across the chest in either direction, covering his fairly bulky build. A set of darker blue pauldrons overlap the chest plate, with golden trimmings and a single light blue-and-gold twisted flame of Tzeentch on each in the centre. http://wh40k.lexicanum.de/mediawiki/images/f/f8/TzeentchSymbol.jpg
Over his shoulders, flowing out from the pauldrons, he wears a midnight-black cloak with a blue inside trimming.
When not in sorcerers battle armour, he can appear in whatever clothes he desires.
Lower Body: He does indeed wear similarly-designed greaves and a light blue and golden tasset around his waist, but that is overlaid by a split blue robe-like piece of clothing with only a golden flame of Tzeentch on the front, the flame split in half where the split of the robe cuts through the symbol.
Weapons: He wears an ornate mini-Zweihander at his waist, but primarily uses his magic staff as a weapon. Nine feet long, it’s a sturdy blackwood shaft ending in a wicked-looking blade that curves around a small eight-pointed golden star, each point sharpened to a deadly edge. The blade straightens off slightly to allow for stabbing attacks, and is strengthened and lightened through numerous enchantments placed on the blade. The counterweight is shaped into the flame of Tzeentzh, the tail end being sharpened extensively.

Abilities: Not only is he an accomplished warrior with both sword and quarterstaff (and magic staff) but he is also a powerful Sorcerer of Tzeentch, able to bend the rules of physics and reality around him to do his will.
Allegiance: He is the advisor to Garsharak The Bloodthirsty, the leader of a small band of Warriors of Chaos that roam the countrysides of the realms of man, The Legion of Blood. Despite being a sorcerer of Tzeentch, the Warlord of Khorne tolerates the Sorcerers presence for two reasons:
    1) The Sorcerer has proven himself a useful tool in securing more weaklings to sacrifice to The Dark Gods
    2) Garsharak needs the Sorcerer if he is to become a Daemon Prince, or if he is to summon Daemons to do his bidding.

Background: Nothing is known about Varkash’s life before he became a Sorcerer of Tzeentch, but he has committed enough atrocities and caused the downfall of enough cities and towns to be feared by those who know of him. However, he has kept to the shadows, so only the most learned (or battle-experienced) Priests and soldiers know of him.

    That ok?

OOC: Ok, I'm going to start this, now that everyone is ready.

Konrad walked beside one of the merchant carts, that made up the Caravan. A few of the Merchants that were a part of this caravan had payed the Church of Sigmar in Wurtbad, asking for a Priest to accompany them as an escort through the always dangerous Talabec Forests. So far, nothing of express interest had happened on their trek towards the city of Talabheim. Every day had gone like clockwork, with Konrad giving a sermon to those who would listen, every morning, before the carts began rolling down the road again.

Despite the inherent boredom, the Priest always had to keep a watchful eye trained on the trees. This forest was home to many dangers. He prayed to Sigmar that if they were to encounter danger, that it would be only a minor gang of Bandits, and not the extremely dangerous Beastmen.

I giggle, taking the fan and fluttering it over my face as I dance on the corner of the street, my eyes glittering with amusement as I hear the jingling of extra change clink into my cup. The men gawk, the women stare. I laugh lightly and then suddenly hear the clacking of hooves against the ground and I look up.

    The guards...

"There she is!" one of the exclaims and my eyes widen.

I slip on the hood of my cloak, quickly grab my cup -- which was halfway full-- and begin to run. I make my way outside of the cities boundries and into the woods.

I see a caravan up ahead and run, my bare feet pounding on the soft earth and my bangles on my ankles clanking lightly.

I see a man [Konrad] up ahead near the carvan and quickly close the gap between me and him. I hear the guards crying out after me.

"Never come back, you gypsy." I hear as I move forward quietly towards the caravan..

The wind rustled the trees in the forest nearby. Felixa's gold-flecked green eyes seemed to narrow, her dark red lips pursing as she scanned. No, she wasn't afraid as she walked down the dirt road, seeing something up ahead. Just being cautious. And ready to reach under my skirt to grab the blade fastened to my thigh if any...thing...threatened me. Thank God the sun was up. But now, she thought of that cold knife pressing against the skin of her leg, its ornate sapphire and emerald jewels very beautifully etched into the gold design. It had been His knife. The Vampire she'd taken it from. And she was pretty sure that's why He was after her. Not to mention the band of thieves she'd gotten away from in the process.

The breeze also played with her wavy, dark locks, blowing them against the milky white of her skin as she shook the thoughts from her mind. Her gold earrings jingled as Felixa's head jerked suddenly to the side, a girl whipping past her. A gypsy. Headed for the same place she was going. The caravan.

Felixa had practically nothing else to do. Where could she go? They were going to continue to follow her. How about returning the knife? Ye gods, it was just a knife, how important could it be? No, she'd be sucked dry anyway. And what about the thieves? Damn. There was nothing to be done about that either. They were simply after her because of rage. Revenge. The only way to be rid of her problem was to-

No. She didn't want to think about that. Not now. She refused. This was her only idea at the moment. She'd have to plot later. Finally, she reached the caravan. But she stopped a little ways away. What was she supposed to say? Besides, the gypsy looked like she was about to engage in conversation with the Priest. Felixa had been raised learning strict manners. She waited patiently, brown leather sandals tied and wrapping around her ankles, sack tied around her waist, and dark hair flowing down in front of her white dress. Her expression was lightly troubled, mouth set and eyes brooding.
