Re: Minecraft Roleplay [OLD]
It would be very complicated. Blocks, flying demon octopuses, etc. I dont think it would work

Re: Minecraft Roleplay [OLD]
But. It's... Minecraft. Minecraft is about nothing. You punch down trees and build a house. Then the Creepers break your house and you punch down more trees.

Nah, in most games you punch people. Not trees.

Re: Minecraft Roleplay [OLD]
Not every game is Halo Jade. Try the original Fallouts. Terrible yet amazingly good storytelling.
The ending to Fallout 1, was appropriate, given how I went from doe-eyed vault dweller to cynical, well armed/trained badass who could go from calm-to-killer in the blink of an eye.
That and I like the way the towns war in Fallout 2.
Oh and, Soul Reaver's tale of salvation and dark histories, that and the lovely twist they threw in during Soul Reaver 2, with the presentation of Kain as more than the sole antagonist. Then there's the whole dual meaning to Raziel's existence, both in his "free will" and need to defy "the plan".
The choices presented in New Vegas are brilliant, and the writing for Caesar almost always makes me seriously consider joining up with the Legion for the "greater good". Although, the fact you can betray everyone in that game really helps show the depth of the story, as you play each side towards one another, pulling the mat out on everyone at the last possible second.
Demon's Souls had a deliciously empty plot where, essentially you start killing the Demon's to save everyone, but somewhere along the line you end up killing them out of a darker hunger, and at the end game fight against the corruption that you've been feeding upon, either saving the world as you were supposed too, thus defying the lure of power, or giving into the creature you've become. It's deliciously simple and devious. In a drunken haze and murderous hunger you kill the last chance mankind has for redemption, the champion becomes the harbinger of the end.
Although shooters all are similar in a way. Halo has this neo-Biblical story where the entire thing is an allegorical gunfight, and that's good. But, honestly, most games are generic. But most media is too.

Re: Minecraft Roleplay [OLD]
Allen...
Number 1, I've played Fallout.
Number 2, I've barely played Halo.
Number 3, after reading "Try the original Fallouts", I got bored and didn't read the rest.
Lots of lovings! =D

Nope, because I didn't just type "tr;dr", and I have other people to help me read everything to make sure it's within the rules. You've said it enough times to Murdoch, so you can't complain.

Re: Minecraft Roleplay [OLD]
I've said it once to Murdoch.
But it really was tl;dr. The amount of pure entropic vibes that reeked from his post was enough to force a miasma of depression upon the most optimistic person.
Most of his posts do that.
BUT ON WITH THE ROLE-PLAY. HURRY UP. I'm curious.

Re: Minecraft Roleplay [OLD]
So I'm guessing no one's ever going to give this plan a chance? Hmph, remember when weird ideas were normal?
I almost regret participating in the destruction of those ideas. Now we just have the hardset "small town/large town/romance/every piece of 'teen media' ever" templates as the staples of online RPing.
I wonder what would happen if everyone knew a bit about proper fiction format. I imagine the resulting cultural Renaissance would be media's equivalent of dividing by zero.
Either way, somebody do this. Just for teh lulz. Personally, I wouldn't use Minecraft, since it doesn't have a real "dramatic/story-driven" theme to it.
But hey, whatever, maybe it'll make a good template. Who doesn't love playing with lego, right?
